Welcome to a new semester of MUN!
January 22, 2008
Hello everyone,
Welcome to a new semester of MUN!? For those of you new to the email list, my name is Ravi Udeshi and I am the current president of GMU’s Model UN team.? We have a lot of exciting things to go over this year, so here goes:
1) Weekly meetings are again being held at 6pm on Tuesdays in JC Room 239A.? We will be meeting today to go over logistics for our upcoming conference at UVA and planning for our conference for high school students, MASUN.
2) We are planning a spring publicity and recruiting push.? We have a kiosk reserved today from 4-6pm and next Monday and Tuesday, 3-6pm.? If you are interested in helping staff our kiosk, please contact me (Ravi).
3) VICS, the conference at the University of Virginia, is coming up soon.? We will be accepting registration for this conference very soon, and discussing the details at today’s meeting.
4) Planning for our high school conference, MASUN ‘08? (March 7-8), is well under way but there is still a lot of work to do.? Registration has tripled from last year, to the point that we’ve had to close down registration and place new schools on a waitlist.? What does this mean? for you?? It means that we’re going to need a lot of staff members to ensure a properly run conference.? There are a lot of high-level positions still available, and we’re also going to need new staff members for some new committees we are adding to address the increased registration (see current committees).? We’ll be going over all of this at today’s meeting, so make sure to be there if you want to help!
Again, don’t forget to come to the meeting, today and every Tuesday at 6pm in JC Room 239A.? We look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you,
Ravi? Udeshi
gmuMUN President

Post-NMUN-DC Report
November 6, 2007
This past weekend, gmuMUN attended the National Model United Nations conference in Washington, DC, sponsored by the Osgood Center for International Studies.? Congratulations to everyone who attended NMUN-DC, including Pete Abbate, Kelsey Wilkens, Sam D’Introno, Paula Hill, Matt Casper, Jeremy Miller, Kady Huff, and Sara Williams!
Because of the unique rules at NMUN-DC, only one award was given in each committee (by a vote of all present), and did not take into account diplomacy, country policy, or accuracy of representation, among other things.? However, all of? our students were informally recognized by their peers within each of their committees as superior delegates with impeccable research who were diplomatic and portrayed their country’s foreign policy accurately.
? Congratulations to all of you and we look forward to seeing you at future conferences!
Post-Yale Report
October 30, 2007
I’m very pleased to announce that our delegates to the Security Council Simulation at Yale (SCSY XXX) did very well, winning individual delegate and delegation awards!? Congratulations go out to all who attended from GMU, including Ashley Amidon, Preston Kussmann, Brad Gilbride, and Nicole Kukuruda.? Specific awards include:
Outstanding Small Delegation – George Mason University
Best Delegate – Ashley Amidon, Peloponnesian War Simulation: Sparta
Congratulations and we look forward to seeing everyone at NMUN-DC!
