Model UN Club Officer

Ally Bowers (President)A sophomore student majoring in Government and International Politics, Ally Bowers has always enjoyed debating international politics. She has been involved in Model UN since her freshmen year of high school, and has loved every minute of it. Outside of school, Ally is a very active member of Student Government, and her sorority Alpha Xi Delta. She is also a die-hard New York Yankee fan and enjoys playing athletics in her spare time.
Paula Hill (Vice President)Paula HillPaula is a junior majoring in Government and International Politics, and loves to discuss anything concerning Middle Eastern politics and international policy. She has been involved in Model UN for many years, at both the high school and collegiate levels. In her spare time, Paula, enjoys spending time with friends and traveling.
Lynn Gold (Secretary)Lynn GoldLynn is a sophomore student majoring in Government and International Politics, with an interest in international development and humanitarian relief.  This is Lynn’s second year involved with Model UN, having been a member of the Secretariat for MASUN 2009 last year.  In addition to Model UN, Lynn is the Chair of the University Life Committee for Student Government and the Treasurer for Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Kerri Buschbacher (Treasurer)A sophomore student majoring in Global Affairs, Kerri Buschbacher has always been interested in international politics and current events, especially the United Nations and the role it plays on the world stage. She has been involved in Model UN since her freshman year of high school and since arriving at George Mason University has had the opportunity to chair multiple committees.  On a less serious note, Kerri’s favorite month is October, her middle name has a silent e, and she does not like country music.

Jillian Ferron (Secretary-General)Jillian Ferron

A junior majoring in Government and International Politics, Jillian is very interested in international policy and the happenings of today’s world.  This is her second year in Model UN, but after being the Director-General for MASUN 2009, she is confident that MASUN 2010, will be just as big of a success! On-campus, Jillian is also very involved in Student Government and is one-half of musical group Jillyn.

Tomohiro Nibe (Director-General)

Tomohiro Nibe is a freshman in the School of Management, majoring in Finance and Management, with a special interest in international relations with Japan. He has been involved in Model United Nations since high school in Portland, Oregon, and actively participates in international politics through the Goi Peace Foundation and the International World Water Forum. He is also pledging for a professional business fraternity, participating in mock trial, and rows for Mason’s crew team.

Alex Thomas (Undersecretary-General)

A freshman student from Severn, Maryland, Alex will soon be double majoring in Psychology and Conflict Analysis & Resolution, and has been involved in Model UN since his sophomore year of high school. Aside from MUN, Alex also participates as a Mason Ambassador and in intramural sports. He loves sunsets, long walks on the beach, and his grandma’s succulent apple pie.

Meliah Mead (Chargé D’affaires)

A freshman student at Mason, Meliah Mead is majoring in Global Affairs with a minor in Spanish.  This is her first year being involved in Model UN, but she is lucky to have such a great opportunity to work with all of you!  Back home in her small town in western Michigan, there really was absolutely nothing to do, so for fun she rode horses, went to the beach, and skied.


Faculty Advisor

Dr. Sonja L. Taylor

Sonja Taylor Dr. Sonja L. Taylor is the United Nations Projects Coordinator and an adjunct professor for George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, where she teaches undergraduate classes on International Politics and American Government.

She is the faculty advisor for the Model United Nations club and class. Dr. Taylor created several alliances with international organizations including, hosting a class on global issues with diplomats from the UN and the first ever UN Volunteers and university partnership.
